Job Summary
Conduct initial brief assessments for incarcerated and homeless patients with substance use or co-occurring mental health disorders. Connect individuals to evidence-based treatment programs, outpatient clinics, and community resources including financial counseling and primary care. Facilitate initiation of Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR) with on-site clinicians or outpatient providers while navigating barriers to treatment access. Advocate for non-judgmental, harm-reduction approaches within hospital and community settings to ensure equitable care. Provide case management and engagement services to support follow-up treatment and resource utilization for those seeking assistance.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) within 1 year - Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA)
- Nonjudgmental, energetic, positive, harm-reduction approach to assisting patients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
- Understanding of SUD as a medical condition and the role of MAR in treatment and harm reduction
- Ability to use computer information systems, computer literacy, and knowledge of word processing
- Ability to interact with patients in a culturally relatable manner
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
