Job Summary
Recovery Counselor to assess clients' personal, medical, emotional, social, and environmental situations through home, community, and office visits; provide individualized, motivational treatment and trauma-informed services to clients with substance use and co-occurring mental illness; advocate for clients and link them to community services; deliver client-centered care and complete case management with a shared caseload; provide crisis/on-call coverage; educate about substance use risks; develop recovery plans with clients and support systems; move clients to appropriate levels of care and assist with entitlements (SSI, SSDI, Medicare, Medicaid, LINK); acquire a SAS credential within 12 months of hire; must be able to work evenings and weekends as directed; required to have Bachelor’s degree and CADC/CRADC/CSADC/CAAP/CARS certification or obtain within 6 months; location is Chicago, IL with on-site/hybrid scheduling as indicated by posting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- High School Diploma or GED and two years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting
- Minimum one year of experience working with clients with substance abuse issues
- Valid Illinois driver’s license with daily access to a well-maintained vehicle with $100,000/$300,000 liability insurance
- Certification: CADC, CRADC, CSADC, CAAP, or CARS through IAODPCA required or must obtain certification within 6 months of hire
