Recovery Community Resource Connector

Job Summary

Develop and oversee recovery resources for Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (APAA) programs, approving materials before recommendation to coaches and community members. Investigate housing resources, design the Resource Directory database, and conduct satisfaction surveys three times annually to assess service gaps. Strategize resource connections for member retention and visibility while researching field trends and national health data to identify funding opportunities. Coordinate APAA participation in local events, introduce recovery to institutional settings like jails and courts, and deliver presentations to external groups. Provide training on resource development, implement internal improvements, and celebrate peer contributions within the Recovery Community Center. Maintain a welcoming climate, promote "recovery first" principles, and represent APAA in networks such as ROSC. Report monthly on tasks, challenges, and lessons learned, ensuring all activities align with APAA's mission and culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field
  • Two years relevant experience
  • Eight years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Continuing education in the addiction/mental health recovery field for Peer Certification
  • At least two years of sobriety in recovery and/or a co-occurring mental illness
  • One year of recovery support experience
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders and recovery principles
  • Strong communication, interpersonal relationship, and presentation skills
  • Ability to relate well to people of all ages, cultural and religious backgrounds
  • Flexibility

  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid state of Texas driver's license
  • Current automobile liability insurance
  • Intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office 2013
  • Ability to objectively evaluate, make effective decisions and develop alternative solutions
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships within and outside the organization
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of APAA staff and the public
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others to leverage resources to achieve common goals
  • Ability to be diplomatic, self-motivated, resourceful, tactful, and flexible
  • Knowledge of and skill in report preparation, proofreading and attention to detail
  • Proven background and willingness to work in an atmosphere requiring flexibility and change
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to maintain valid driver's license and auto insurance
  • Medium to heavy lifting
  • Rotating schedule, including weekend, evening, and holiday work
