Job Summary
Recovery Coach position serving as a personal guide and liaison for individuals with substance use disorders in WVU Health System treatment settings. Responsibilities include helping identify treatment needs, developing and monitoring individualized treatment plans, providing outreach and on-site/community check-ups, mentoring through life experience, meeting with patients and support persons, linking patients to resources (education, housing, recovery supports, self-help groups, health services), and functioning as part of the treatment team. Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and a state-recognized Peer Recovery Certification (and/or CPRS). Proficiency in coordinating with treatment staff, strong communication, teamwork, HIPAA compliance, and ability to work in hospital/clinical environments are expected. Flexible shifts with potential travel between facilities; physical requirements and safety considerations are noted. This role emphasizes collaboration with clinics, patients, families, and community resources to support sustained recovery.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Peer Recovery Certification issued by state board where services are provided: WV: Substance Use Disorder Peer Recovery Certification (PRSS-SUD) through the West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction and Prevention Professionals (WVCBAPP)
- MD: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) through the Maryland Addiction & Behavioral-Health Professionals Certification Board
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas
