Job Summary
Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes while conducting on-person searches, luggage checks up to 50 pounds, and hourly head counts. Facilitate patient orientation, unit tours, and off-campus appointments, then accompany patients to meals, activities, and scheduled programming. Monitor and direct patients during emergency evacuations, de-escalate behaviors, and assist with elopement, Against Medical Advice, and Against Staff Advice protocols. Document patient behavior in electronic medical records, perform daily room and perimeter checks, and educate patients on recovery-oriented stress management and coping skills. Conduct required drug screenings and present approved educational lectures. This on-call, as-needed per diem role offers 2nd shift coverage (8–30 hours/week) at $21/hour plus shift differential. Requires a valid driver's license, ability to operate a 15-passenger van, and current sobriety if in recovery.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Basic understanding of substance use disorders and recovery program philosophies
- 21 years of age or older
- Current, valid, unrestricted driver's license with at least 5 years of driving experience
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to walk and actively participate in activities throughout campus, which may include ascending and descending stairs
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time as needed
- Must be able to drive a 15-passenger van, car, or car to and from various activities
- Must be able to work overtime/extended hours, holidays and during periods of inclement weather as needed
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the principles and philosophies of recovery programs (i.e. 12 Steps, Dharma Recovery, SMART Recovery, etc.)
- Must possess the skills to adequately supervise respective population and be able to observe, report, and document behaviors on the unit
- Must be able to operate as a role model in decorum, speech, and behaviors consistent with recovery principles
- Must demonstrate good organizational skills
- Must possess the skills necessary to present clinically approved educational lectures
- Must possess cultural sensitivity and act appropriately within all cultures
- Must be computer literate and able to work with most Microsoft applications along with other network components
- Must be able to keep all clinical work within the guidelines of the federal and state guidelines and Caron policy regarding ethical standards
