Job Summary
Operate a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to look in the direction of travel while transporting materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas. Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refer defects or repairs to the supervisor. Move controls to drive battery-powered trucks, position lifting devices under or over loaded pallets, and manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, or platforms. Inspect and evaluate the condition of all product brought to the recoup area, classify items as damaged, as-is, or scraped, and repack appliances in boxes or cartons. Complete inventory, restock cartons where needed, and use scanning devices and computers to perform tasks and generate reports. Work Sunday through Thursday from 6am to 2:30pm with overtime available, earning $20 per hour. Forklift certification is preferred, and a valid state driver's license is required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- One to two years related experience
- Valid State Driver's License
- Forklift Certification
- Ability to work required schedule
- Ability to arrive at work on time
- Ability and willingness to work the voluntary/mandatory overtime that is required during the busy season
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in a courteous and professional manner with others
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction
- Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers
- Ability to read and write simple sentences
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and management
- Ability to maintain a level of production that meets or exceeds the established guidelines
- Ability to work independently without interruptions
- Ability to complete necessary paperwork neatly and accurately and according to established guidelines
- Ability to verify paperwork necessary to ensure product is repackaged correctly
- Ability to inspect condition of product received and product going out to ensure quality
- Ability to follow a systematic method of performing a task
- Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
- Ability to adapt to change in the workplace
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect Team Member safety
- Basic scanner technology
