Job Summary
Recertification Specialist for the CHA Polish community portfolio in Chicago, IL. Responsible for applicant documentation and data to determine program eligibility, interviewing applicants/residents for initial certification and annual recertification, requesting additional documentation, and maintaining low vacancy rates in accordance with program and HHDC policies. Essential duties include processing tenant applications and leases, screening, marketing, showing apartments, preparing leases/move-ins, ensuring completion of required documentation, conducting annual and interim re-examinations and unit transfers, conducting applicant/participant briefings, ensuring adherence to leasing/occupancy policies, processing transactions, maintaining resident files securely, assisting with rent collection and lease enforcement, and supporting Property Manager/Assistant Manager in goals and priorities.
Required Qualifications
- High School or GED
- 2-year college education a plus
- Minimum of 2 years of related Leasing/Occupancy Specialist experience
- Bilingual in Spanish or Polish
- Familiarity with project-based subsidy programs preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize multiple assignments
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good basic math skills
- Willingness to work in a team environment
- Ability to work well in a busy office with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of people
- Diplomacy in handling problems of residents
