Job Summary
Reception Team Staff – Clinic at Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin handles administrative support for the AFP department: greeting and checking in patients and visitors, answering phone lines (including nurse/practitioner lines), scheduling appointments, handling general inquiries, collecting payments, and maintaining an organized front desk. Reports to the Reception Team Leader. Provides a pathway to a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental insurance, leave and disability coverages, and various employee perks. Strong emphasis on customer service, confidentiality (HIPAA), and effective use of EMR/appointment systems. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm, full-time.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Minimum six (6) months work experience in a setting requiring customer service skills
- Experience in a Medical Reception setting preferred
- Experience using the telephone in a service capacity preferred
- Experience with medical terminology preferred
- Ability to pass Competency Test in primary reception area and Telephone Communication skills checks within 3–6 months
- Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to work harmoniously with all personnel and the public
- HIPAA knowledge or ability to learn HIPAA requirements
- Ability to use email and online systems such as electronic medical record and appointment scheduling
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and be flexible in daily assignments
- Ability to sit or stand for up to 3 hours and to frequently bend and reach
- Ability to spell correctly and to use a keyboard for much of the shift
