Job Summary
Drive and operate a forklift for loading, unloading, moving, locating, stacking, and counting merchandise while ensuring safe and efficient vehicle operation. Conduct equipment inspections, check arriving trailers for contaminants, verify seal integrity and temperature specifications, and perform daily inventories to maintain traceability documentation. Unload trailers, weigh loads, and rotate raw materials according to FIFO protocols, supplying materials to production areas as needed. Be vigilant for foreign objects, inspect boxes for damage, and work safely around machinery while adhering to PPE protocols including hairnets, hardhats, and gloves. Complete all required paperwork and perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in a fast-paced food processing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience and a forklift license
- High school diploma or GED
- Must complete the required forklift certification
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts
- Must be able to lift to 35 lbs. unassisted for up to half of the workday
- Must be able to lift 25 kg overhead
- Must be able to follow directions
- Must understand and adhere to posted work rules and procedures
- Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment
- Must be capable of working independently with limited supervision
- Regular and acceptable attendance
- Ability to wear approved shoes and personal protective equipment
- Ability to work in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34°F
- Ability to work around concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia
- Ability to work with wet work surfaces and floors
- Ability to work on a concrete floor
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and make repetitive hand movements
- Ability to work around moving machinery, including conveyors and forklifts
- Awareness of common allergens such as Milk, Peanuts, Egg, Fish, Shellfish, Tree Nuts, Wheat, Soybeans, Sesame, Mustard and Sulfites
- Strong oral communication skills
