Job Summary
Plan and lead interest-based, play-based activities to promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development while maintaining active supervision. Document children's learning progress through observation and reflection, and create environments ensuring health, safety, and well-being. Assist with daily needs like diapering, dressing, and eating habits, while fostering strong relationships with families and collaborating with coworkers and community partners. Participate in team meetings, professional learning, and staff training, and assist with housekeeping duties. Adhere to CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies. This split shift role supports kindergarten or school-age classrooms, with full days during March break, Winter break, PA Days, and summer programming.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years' experience working with children and youth
- Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards
- Valid certifications, including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma
- has an alternative childcare designation that is eligible for Director's Approval (i.e., Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, and Ontario Certified Teachers - Primary and Junior)
