Real Estate Property Accounting Analyst

Job Summary
Reconcile monthly property-level financial statements and review general ledger activity to verify revenue, expense, and reimbursement classifications. Assist in income statement analysis, including variance analysis and trend identification, while performing rent roll reviews and tie-outs to leases. Validate tenant-level and property-level data within systems such as AppFolio and track key performance metrics like occupancy and market rents. Support the preparation of financial reporting packages for internal stakeholders and contribute to the valuation process by gathering and validating asset-level data for appraisers and auditors. Identify discrepancies in financial data, investigate root causes, and escalate with recommended solutions while collaborating cross-functionally with property management and accounting teams. Maintain organized documentation of reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field
- Foundational understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Demonstrated experience with data entry and record-keeping
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated with a demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow within the real estate and portfolio finance field
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Exposure to property accounting or real estate analysis
- Experience with property management or accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio)
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs)
- Familiarity with financial reporting in spreadsheet-based environments
