Job Summary
Oversee ready-mix plant production, operations, and site facilities by planning budgets, managing equipment, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance. Maintain accurate cost and inventory control while analyzing productivity data to lower operating costs and improve performance. Document production statistics, produce required reports, and ensure customer quality requirements are met through rigorous process controls. Manage personnel, including interviews, performance reviews, and training programs for drivers on delivery techniques and truck maintenance. Enforce OSHA/CalPortland regulations by conducting accident investigations, reporting incidents, and leading safety meetings to reinforce safe behaviors. Collaborate with other departments and the local community to maintain compliance and positive relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience running a ready-mix operation, including ancillary functions such as yard production and product delivery
- Experience with OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements
- Experience managing groups of employees in one or more locations
- Experience implementing training programs for drivers including driving technique, truck maintenance, product delivery, ticketing, payments and customer service
- Personnel management experience, i.e., interview and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline and legal compliance requirements
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system
- Knowledge of office systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Customer service orientation
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check
- Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing
Desired Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or Civil Engineering or equivalent a plus
- Any relevant operations management certifications, i.e. industry specific management training
- Personnel management experience, i.e., interview and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline and legal compliance requirements a plus
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system a plus
- Experience in a vertically integrated construction materials organization
- Experience with SAP
