Job Summary
Oversee ready-mix plant production, operations, and site facilities while planning budgets, managing equipment utilization, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance. Establish and monitor production plans with accurate cost and inventory control, document statistics, and analyze productivity data. Manage mobile equipment and capital/operating budgets, developing strategies to lower operating costs and improve performance. Ensure customer quality requirements are met through rigorous process adherence and OSHA/CalPortland regulation compliance, including accident investigations and safety training. Lead personnel management and development, fostering positive relationships with local communities and other departments.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience running a ready-mix operation, including ancillary functions such as yard production and product delivery
- Experience with OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements
- Experience managing groups of employees in one or more locations
- Experience implementing training programs for drivers including driving technique, truck maintenance, product delivery, ticketing, payments and customer service
- Personnel management experience, i.e., interview and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline and legal compliance requirements
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system
- Knowledge of office systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Customer service orientation
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or Civil Engineering or equivalent a plus
- Any relevant operations management certifications, i.e. industry specific management training
- Must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check
- Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing
