Job Summary
Oversee ready-mix plant production, operations, and site facilities while managing batch men, drivers, and mobile equipment. Establish and monitor production plans, maintain accurate cost and inventory control, and document statistics for required reports. Lead personnel management, development, and training programs for drivers, including driving technique and truck maintenance. Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and OSHA/CalPortland regulation adherence through accident investigations, safety meetings, and employee engagement. Manage capital and operating budgets, analyze productivity and material data, and develop plans to lower operating costs. Guarantee customer quality requirements are met through established processes. Communicate with the local community and collaborate across departments to ensure safety, environmental compliance, and materials performance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience running a ready-mix operation, including ancillary functions such as yard production and product delivery
- Experience with OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements
- Experience managing groups of employees in one or more locations
- Experience implementing training programs for drivers including driving technique, truck maintenance, product delivery, ticketing, payments and customer service
- Personnel management experience, i.e., interview and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline and legal compliance requirements
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system
- Knowledge of office systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Customer service orientation
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check
- Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing
Desired Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or Civil Engineering or equivalent a plus
- Any relevant operations management certifications, i.e. industry specific management training
- Personnel management experience, i.e., interview and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline and legal compliance requirements a plus
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system a plus
- Experience in a vertically integrated construction materials organization
- Experience with SAP
