Job Summary
Oversee ready-mix plant production, operations, and site facilities while managing batch men, drivers, and mobile equipment. Establish and monitor production plans, maintaining accurate cost and inventory control through analysis of productivity and material data. Direct capital and operating budget processes to develop plans for improved performance and lower operating costs. Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and OSHA/CalPortland regulations by conducting accident investigations, reporting, safety meetings, and training. Manage personnel development, including interviews, performance reviews, and driver training on driving technique and truck maintenance. Document production statistics, generate required reports, and communicate with the local community to maintain positive relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience running a ready-mix operation, including ancillary functions such as yard production and product delivery
- Experience with OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements
- Experience managing groups of employees in one or more locations
- Experience implementing training programs for drivers including driving technique, truck maintenance, product delivery, ticketing, payments and customer service
- Personnel management experience, i.e., interview and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline and legal compliance requirements
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system
- Knowledge of office systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Customer service orientation
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check
- Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing
Desired Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or Civil Engineering or equivalent a plus
- Any relevant operations management certifications, i.e. industry specific management training
- Personnel management experience, i.e., interview and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline and legal compliance requirements a plus
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system a plus
- Experience in a vertically integrated construction materials organization
- Experience with SAP
