Job Summary
Oversee ready-mix plant production, operations, and site facilities while managing batch men and drivers. Establish and monitor production plans to maintain accurate cost and inventory control, calculating productivity and material data. Document production statistics, produce required reports, and analyze performance to develop plans for improved efficiency and lower operating costs. Manage capital and operating budgets, supervise mobile equipment, and ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations through accident investigations, safety meetings, and training. Lead personnel management, including hiring, performance reviews, and driver training on driving technique and product delivery. Ensure customer quality requirements are met by maintaining processes that deliver a quality product.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience running a ready-mix operation, including ancillary functions such as yard production and product delivery
- Experience with OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements
- Experience managing groups of employees in one or more locations
- Experience implementing training programs for drivers including driving technique, truck maintenance, product delivery, ticketing, payments and customer service
- Personnel management experience, i.e., interview and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline and legal compliance requirements
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system
- Knowledge of office systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Customer service orientation
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check
- Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing
Desired Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or Civil Engineering or equivalent a plus
- Any relevant operations management certifications, i.e. industry specific management training
- Personnel management experience, i.e., interview and selection, performance reviews, wage issues, discipline and legal compliance requirements a plus
- Work experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system a plus
- Experience in a vertically integrated construction materials organization
- Experience with SAP
