Job Summary
Ready Mix Diesel Mechanic responsible for conducting mechanical and light electrical inspections, diagnosing and repairing components on trucks and ready-mix equipment, and performing preventive maintenance (brakes, fluids, lighting). Read job orders and listen to trucks to determine malfunctions, plan procedures, and repair/replace components such as transmissions, engines, axles, gearboxes, and other mechanical parts. Welding experience required and ability to use cutting torch and gas welding equipment. Maintain PPE and shop cleanliness, adhere to safety policies, and work well under pressure on tight timelines. CDL required (Class A or B) or ability to obtain; Spanish speaking or bilingual is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Welding experience required
- Class A or B CDL required or the ability to obtain
- Previous truck mechanic experience required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Must possess a wide variety of tools
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; ability to climb, bend, stoop, and walk
- Spanish speaking or bilingual a plus
- Ability to meet tight timelines and work under pressure when needed
- Understanding of welding of components is necessary for the repair of equipment
- Operate cutting torch and gas welding equipment, misc. shop tools
