Job Summary

Facilitate the school's literacy intervention program by implementing Read 180, System 44, and Reading Counts with fidelity while assisting students using related software and equipment. Collaborate with teachers to identify literacy needs, set learning goals, and develop best practices for student academic growth through regular PLC meetings. Assist with data collection, analysis, and sharing findings to evaluate student achievement and place students in appropriate support services. Maintain accurate management records of all student progress and attend professional development to enhance pedagogy and content knowledge. This 10-month exempt role supports continuous academic growth within Moore County Schools.

Required Qualifications

  • Current North Carolina Teacher Licensure
  • Reading or Literacy Coach Certification
  • Minimum of five years' successful classroom teaching experience
  • Proficient technology skills
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Strong instructional skills inclusive of oral and written communication
  • Must be able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, overhead projectors, and data projectors
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to listen and communicate effectively in order to gather, convey or exchange information, including giving instructions, assignments or directions to subordinates or assistants
  • Must be able to respond appropriately to inquiries or complaints
  • Must be able to use tact and courtesy when working and dealing with community
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and prepare various kinds of communication and information including emails, correspondence, reports, articles, spreadsheets, staff development plans, educational forms and data
  • Must be able to write using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
  • Must be able to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence
  • Must be able to apply principles of logical, critical, creative or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Must be able to demonstrate and apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instruction and to make simple decisions
  • Must be able to interpret, infer, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate materials, resources, situations and problems to generate options and solutions
  • Must be able to interpret and carry out oral and/or written instructions
  • Must be able to demonstrate continued professional curiosity and growth
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of settings, using appropriate terminology and by telephone and email
  • Must be able to hear, speak, read, record, and explain information, communication, and procedures
  • Must be able to deal fairly with people beyond giving and receiving instructions
  • Must be able to perform under stress, deal with persons acting under stress and displaying emotional distress and adapt when confronted with emergency situations

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education preferred
