Job Summary
Manage student behavior during transitions, lunch, and recess while holding students accountable for high expectations of engagement. Support a team of teachers by completing administrative tasks such as taking attendance, entering grades, and preparing student activities. Tutor small groups or individuals and supervise projects, skill practice, and digital learning under the direction of the multi-classroom leader. Collaborate with teachers and digital lab monitors to maintain a culture of respect and enthusiasm. Participate in required professional development sessions within the Opportunity Culture Model.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Associate's Degree, 48 semester hours, or academic assessment
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to meet the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements
- Previous experience working with children
- Demonstrated effectiveness working with people who have differing cultural backgrounds and/or personal characteristics, including race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or economic differences
- Knowledge of the subject matter being taught
- Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate
- Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification
- Three creditable years of experience as an educational aide I or II
- Completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas
- Experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent
- Ability to work well with children
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Moderate lifting, 15-44 lbs
- Moderate carrying, 15-44 lbs
