Job Summary
Support a team of teachers with instructional and noninstructional duties, including managing student behavior during transitions, lunch, and recess while teachers deliver instruction. Hold students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement, and maintain administrative tasks such as taking attendance, entering grades, scheduling parent conferences, and preparing assignments. Tutor small groups or individuals, supervise projects and digital learning, and collaborate with multi-classroom leaders and digital lab monitors. Solicit feedback to improve professional skills and participate in required professional development sessions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Ability to meet the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements
- Previous experience working with children
- Demonstrated effectiveness working with people who have differing cultural backgrounds and/or personal characteristics, including race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or economic differences
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Ability to work well with children
- Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate
- Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification
- Three creditable years of experience as an educational aide I or II
- Completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas
- Experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's Degree, 48 semester hours, or academic assessment
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of the subject matter being taught (if assisting with instruction)
- Experience working successfully with those of similar demographics to the desired school placement
