Job Summary
RCP III provides high-quality respiratory care to SOMC patients under supervision of the Manager of Respiratory Therapy. Responsibilities include delivering medical gas administration via various devices, humidification and aerosolized medications, postural drainage and chest physical therapy, hyperinflation therapy, customer education on home treatment systems, collecting and reporting patient information to plan respiratory care, performing nasal tracheal and artificial suctioning, arterial blood sampling, pulmonary function testing, endotracheal intubation/extubation, managing noninvasive and invasive ventilation equipment, and monitoring patient progress to evaluate response to therapy. Additional duties may include pre-cleaning and disinfection of instruments, maintaining documentation, reviewing ERX requests, handling failed electronic prescriptions, and supporting other job functions as assigned. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CoARC or other deemed accrediting body
- RT(OH) licensure required
- RRT licensure required
- BLS within 90 days of hire required
- NRP within 6 months of hire required
- Minimum three years post graduate experience in respiratory care; two years in acute care delivery; one to two years of tertiary level respiratory care experience preferred
- Experience with blood gas sampling, pulmonary function testing, endotracheal intubation/extubation, and ventilatory support management may be required
