Job Summary
Conduct field inspections, read maps and aerial photos, and measure fields and storage bins to assess crop damage. Discuss findings with farmers on complex, non-routine, and controversial claims while conveying regulations and interpretations to claimants and agents. Perform fact-finding regarding crop damage, record information, and transmit loss data to determine indemnities. Complete claim reviews and audits on lower-level adjusters as assigned, ensuring legal compliance through adherence to regulatory policies and procedures. Gather relevant facts by utilizing applicable law and establishing negligence principles. This role requires approximately 50% travel to cover Kittson, Marshall, Pennington, and Roseau counties, with a 40-hour workweek. Candidates must possess CAPP certification and meet physical requirements for walking in fields up to three miles and climbing bins up to 25 feet.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area
- Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP)
- Reliable personal transportation
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles
- Ability to climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions
- Must be able to live within and service Kittson, Marshall, Pennington, Roseau counties in Minnesota
- Must be available for approximately 50% travel
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week
- Must be able to work from a home-based office in Minnesota
