Job Summary
Coordinate ancillary and student volunteers, including orientation, assignments, and training. Conduct intake and schedule participants, ensuring appropriate paperwork is in place. Facilitate support groups, review curriculum revisions, and collaborate with the Rays of Hope Director on program development and community outreach. Provide callers with community resources, conduct facility tours, and assist the Music Therapist with referrals. Manage volunteer activities, confirm attendance, and make class assignments while promoting Hospice of Midland in the community. Requires a high school diploma, licensed driver's license, and experience supervising children. Evening hours and travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or the equivalency
- Must pass a drug test and criminal check and have a satisfactory driving history
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order
- Must have excellent communication skills in reading, writing and speaking English
- Must have good general office and telephone skills
- Must have good computer skills and knowledge of programs used by the agency
- Must have good knowledge of office equipment
- Must have the ability to prioritize projects, be organized and flexible
- Must be punctual, reliable and available when scheduled, which may include evening hours
- Must be able to manage and supervise volunteers
- Must have at least one year's experience supervising children in a professional or volunteer basis
- Must be able to sit, stand, squat, bend, kneel, twist and climb
- Must be able to lift and push/pull up to 25 pounds
- Must drive in various weather conditions on roads in varying degrees of repair
- Must be able to handle emergency or crisis situations
- Must be able to work near moving equipment
- Must be able to perform hands for repetitively grasping and turning, fine manipulation and speed work
- Must be able to work in extremes of heat and cold in all weather conditions
- Must be able to be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
- Must be able to be exposed to patients
- Must be able to handle varying and unpredictable situations
- Must be able to travel
- Must be able to handle OSHA Exposure Category II tasks
- Must be able to handle unplanned Category I tasks
- Must be able to minimize risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission
- Must be able to use PPE (including the use of masks)
- Must be able to perform regular hand washing and frequent use of hand sanitizer
- Must be able to practice social distancing when possible
- Must be able to use telecommunications wherever possible to minimize contact
- Must attend mandatory educational programs
- Must accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job-related skills and abilities
- Must participate in appropriate education as may be requested by their immediate supervisor
