Job Summary
Lead a manufacturing engineering team in a large sugar refinery operation in Toronto, overseeing process equipment throughput, quality, safety, and efficiency; troubleshoot with operational personnel to understand problems and develop solutions; apply continuous improvement to enhance system reliability and drive productivity and cost improvements including new technologies; develop and improve procedures for Bulk and Liquid loading production scheduling and overall loading operations up to process aid consumption; coordinate arrival and offloading of raw sugar vessels, monitor downtime and implement actions to improve efficiency; provide technical support in capital projects and in new product and process equipment start-ups; ensure safety and quality standards are met and provide documentation, operator and maintenance training; design and develop capital projects for new equipment installation; collaborate with the engineering team to ensure preventive maintenance is performed on schedule; supervise approximately 20 hourly associates in a unionized facility; other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree (or technology diploma) in Engineering, Process Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Process engineering/technology, Process development, quality engineering, or manufacturing
- Strong background and proven results in Leading Continuous Improvement through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
- Ability to lead diverse teams to achieve operational improvements
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and implement them
