Job Summary

Review financial statements, build forecasts, and write analytical commentary on credit ratings for banks and non-bank financial institutions in South and Southeast Asia. Assist with proprietary models, prepare first drafts of rating committee memos, and participate in committee meetings to offer analysis and opinions. Contribute to core research, draft credit opinions, and attend investor briefings to engage directly with issuers. Operate internal rating systems, maintain analytical databases, and ensure compliance with Moody's methodologies and regulatory policies.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-2 years relevant working experience
  • Good understanding about the banking sector and credit market
  • Fluent in English
  • Solid verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency
  • Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Ability to review financial statements and charts, analyze data and financial statements, and build and update financial forecasts
  • Ability to write analytical commentary in accordance with Moody's methodologies
  • Ability to assist with proprietary models and new financial projections
  • Ability to identify trends in data and apply analytical skills and judgment to form well-reasoned credit conclusions
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of credit fundamentals through a review of components such as transaction documentation, cash flow analysis, or loss allocation rules
  • Ability to prepare first draft of rating committee memos
  • Ability to attend and participate in rating committee meetings
  • Ability to offer analysis and opinion in rating committee meetings
  • Ability to develop strong working knowledge of Moody's methodologies and credit rating best practices
  • Ability to understand and identify key factors that affect issuer credit ratings
  • Ability to engage with issuers directly for follow-up clarification and information
  • Ability to complete Credit Estimates used to assess elements of credit risk in certain rated transactions
  • Ability to contribute to the first draft of core research e.g. credit opinions, issuer and sector comments, press releases, pre sale and new issue reports
  • Ability to contribute to research strategy, including idea generation and preliminary drafting
  • Ability to adhere to Moody's research standards
  • Ability to attend investor briefings and issuer meetings as required
  • Ability to help prepare presentation materials
  • Ability to engage in discussions with issuers
  • Ability to build positive relationships with issuers
  • Ability to display initiative to understand the issuer's business
  • Ability to proactively respond to issuer enquiries
  • Ability to operate internal systems and software specific to the rating group
  • Ability to construct and take ownership of analytical databases
  • Ability to identify all issues with data for follow up with Lead Analysts

  • Ability to seek Ratings Associate Team Manager (RATM) guidance where needed
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive analysis on an assigned portfolio of credit ratings
  • Ability to perform holistic evaluations of credit risk
  • Ability to integrate credit inputs prepared by internal and external parties
  • Ability to actively participate in rating committee discussions
  • Ability to interact with issuers and other market participants
  • Ability to work with Lead Analysts
