Job Summary

Deliver respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, and ventilation support to neonatal through geriatric patients. Monitor and wean oxygen therapy, draw and analyze arterial blood gases, and deliver intermittent therapy as ordered by physicians. Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, including changing artificial airways, while reviewing and documenting all clinical information. Educate patients and co-workers on treatment plans and maintain professional certifications. Work nights at Jefferson Hwy, requiring heavy physical exertion and exposure to body fluids.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree
  • Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
  • Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification (only for trained therapists working in the NICU)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and keyboard
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to exert in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently
  • Ability to exert in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly
  • Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
  • Ability to push and/or pull of arm or leg controls
  • Ability to work at a production rate pace
  • Ability to work in an area where patients enter
  • Ability to work directly with patients
  • Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
  • Ability to handle receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste
  • Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
  • Ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
  • Ability to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
  • Ability to protect patient/employee safety
  • Ability to protect patient privacy
