Job Summary
Review case reports to ensure timely approvals, develop unit goals, and monitor staff productivity while organizing daily office schedules. Manage a group of first-level supervisors, assist with in-person interactions for clients and landlords, and ensure all operations adhere to federal guidelines. Train subordinate staff and provide performance evaluations to maintain team effectiveness. This role supports the Housing Services Administration's mission to help individuals and families exit shelter and secure safe, affordable housing across New York City.
Required Qualifications
- Permanent in Associate Benefits Opportunity Specialist Civil Service Title
- Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
- Three years of full-time satisfactory experience working directly in social/human services or a related setting
- Experience providing client services
- Experience providing employment planning/counseling services which involves job development, skills assessment, and employment placement or other economic opportunity programming
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
- Eighteen months of full-time satisfactory experience working as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist
- Eighteen months of full-time satisfactory experience as described in one (1) above
- College credit from an accredited college (60 semester credits for 9 months of the work experience described above)
- At least 18 months of full-time satisfactory experience working as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist or performing social/human services work as described in one (1) above
