Job Summary
The Research Associate will perform geospatial analysis using QGIS, ArcGIS, and GDAL, focusing on satellite and aerial image processing, including georeferencing, orthorectification, and radiometric correction. The role requires a PhD or Master’s degree in a related field and 2–5 years of relevant experience. Candidates should possess expertise in satellite imagery handling, and coordinate reference system transformations, and be proficient in writing processing scripts in Python or R. Strong documentation and communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with scientists and engineers, are essential.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or Master’s degree in Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Geospatial Science, Earth Observation, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience
- Strong proficiency in QGIS, ArcGIS, and GDAL
- Ability to perform georeferencing, orthorectification, radiometric correction, and pan-sharpening of images
- Experience in geometric corrections and coordinate transformations
- Working knowledge of satellite imagery and aerial image acquisition
- Familiarity with DEM handling and image warping techniques
- Understanding of various data projections and resampling methods
- Knowledge of change detection techniques
Desired Qualifications
- Skill in using Python or R for processing scripts
- Knowledge of machine learning and collaboration with ML engineers
