Job Summary
Repair and maintain equipment, fences, ditches, headgates, and pipes while operating haying equipment, loaders, tractors, and power tools. Manage hay crop irrigation needs, move irrigation pipes, and ensure pastures are sufficiently watered. Perform daily feeding of livestock and chickens, including calving duties such as feeding, tagging, vaccinations, and general doctoring. Clean dog kennels daily and assist with snow plowing, mowing, and weed eating as directed. Maintain proficiency in horseback riding, cattle handling, and identifying sickness or lameness in animals. Work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, and other environmental conditions during summer irrigation (Mon-Sat) and calving schedules (7 days/week). Compensation is DOE.
Required Qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Self starter, highly motivated
- Ability to work long hours
- Must be proficient in the safe operation of all equipment...haying, loaders, tractors, 4 wheeler, vehicles, power tools, chainsaw, etc
- Time management - ability to manage one's own time
- Must be reliable, responsible and dependable
- Proficient on horseback and handling of horses and cattle
- Ability to identify sickness and/or lameness in horses and cattle
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs
- Clean driving record and background and drug test required
- Must be available for summer irrigation schedule Mon-Sat
- Must be available for calving schedule 7 days a week
