Job Summary
The Descanso Railroad Technician, Seasonal is a part-time role responsible for the maintenance and care of model trains and the surrounding gardens, requiring strong mechanical aptitude and public interaction skills.
Required Qualifications
- Must be physically able to perform multiple tasks requiring physical dexterity
- Excellent personal skills and ability to interact with the public
- Ability to assess situations quickly, make decisions and exercise good judgment in routine or emergency situations
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as a member of a team
Desired Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and experience operating model trains preferred
- Experience and some knowledge in either general building maintenance or in one or more of the standard building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, vehicle repair, or painting a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required including speaking clearly to diverse audiences, reading and writing standard and technical communications, documents and manuals
Additional Requirements
- The position requires working weekends and holidays
- The term of this position is October through early January
