Railroad Laborer (Trackman) I

Job Summary
Carry and place track materials using standard Railroad maintenance tools, and install tracks, embankments, road crossing signage, and rail lubricators. Perform track maintenance and construction activities such as changing rails, ties, and adjusting switches while operating picks, shovels, spike mauls, and specialized hydraulic or air power tools. Attend after-hour and weekend callouts to repair derailment damage and assist in re-railing train cars. Follow federal rules, safety policies, and required equipment protocols while working in all weather conditions. Must be 18 or older, willing to travel for overnight stays, and able to lift up to 100 pounds. Position-specific training provided for new hires.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must pass all required assessments/trainings
- Must be willing to submit to a background check
- Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screen
- Must be willing to submit to random drug tests
- Willing and able to travel to various job sites
- Willing and able to work overnight stays
- Willing and able to work with short notice mobilization
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
- Understand and follow verbal/visual communications
- Capable of responding to audible and visual signals and warnings
- Capable of recognizing, avoiding, and reporting potential hazards

Desired Qualifications
