Job Summary
Railroad Crossing Applicators at DCS perform vegetation-control tasks at railroad crossings, including filling water/chemical mix, operating industrial weed eaters and a chainsaw, pulling and rolling long hoses, spraying across 8–10 crossings daily, and driving spray trucks between locations. The role requires travel 1–3 weeks at a time with hotel accommodations provided, a flexible schedule including potential weekend/night work, and compliance with drug, DOT physicals, and background checks. Training is provided, and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 21+ years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license with at least 5 years of clean driving history
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and federal background check for railroad property access
- Ability to travel 1-3 weeks at a time, home weekends except for 2-3 weeks of the entire season
- Flexible schedule: Most work is Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm, with 10–12-hour shifts; some weekend or night work may be required
