Job Summary
Conduct all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars, including inspections to ensure compliance with AAR rules and necessary repairs. Perform railcar work in all weather conditions while maintaining required certifications and following proper safety procedures. Manage customer expectations, complete invoicing and work order information, and handle daily travel for field service. Requires mechanical aptitude, strong team skills, and ability to use hand tools for welding slag removal.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions
- Ability to use hand tools (such as pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets, and other equipment to chip and grind weld slag or spatter)
- Ability to handle and successfully complete basic railcar repairs and inspections
- Consistently demonstrate skill in customer relations, using good interpersonal skills and be able to work as a part of a team
- Ability to work safely and follow proper procedures
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from the ground surface
- Ability to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights
- Ability to pass company physical exam, drug screening and background check
- Demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations
- Must be able to maintain all certifications and complete required certifications
