Railcar Repair Supervisor

Job Summary

Lead daily repair operations for the Regina Shops team by assigning work to meet production schedules and customer commitments. Conduct hold-point inspections, monitor operator maintenance, and verify all repairs meet regulatory and quality standards. Drive continuous improvement through Daily Management System activities while coaching employees and managing performance evaluations. Enforce the Collective Bargaining Agreement, administer attendance points, and schedule labor resources to achieve safety, quality, and productivity objectives. Begin on Shift 1 for training before transitioning to Shift 2 or 3 based on operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous supervisory experience in a railcar repair or industrial manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Must be available for Shift 1 (Monday to Friday | 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) for training
  • Must be available for Shift 2 (Monday to Friday | 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.) or Shift 3 (Monday to Thursday | 10:00 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.) based on operational requirements
  • Must be able to work in both indoor shop environments and outdoor conditions throughout the year
  • Must be able to handle exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, fumes, heavy industrial equipment, and fluctuating temperatures
  • Must be able to apply the Collective Bargaining Agreement consistently and fairly
  • Must be able to enforce company policies, shop rules, and contractual requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Railcar repair experience
  • Working knowledge of AAR and DOT railcar repair regulations
  • Familiarity with standards published by AAR, CGSB, DOT, BOE, FRA, and the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations
  • Experience leading Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement initiatives
