Job Summary
Oversee hands-on operation of all shop equipment in the railroad division, train and supervise staff, coordinate department workloads with a focus on safety, QA, and regulatory compliance; ensure fabrication parts are ready and assemblies are built to prints; collaborate with engineering on new designs and problem parts; manage daily goals, schedules, and performance, and report information to owners and Plant Manager; enforce company safety policies including zero-tolerance drug/alcohol testing; lead cross-department coordination and maintain adherence to ISO, AAR, and FRA standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- AWS certification (preferred but not required)
- AAR M-1003 and AAR M-1002 QA knowledge
- OSHA or safety certifications preferred
- 5+ years railcar repair/mechanical maintenance experience
- 2+ years supervisory/leadership experience
- Ability to read blueprints and understand engineering terminology
- Strong supervisory and training abilities
- Proficient in inspection procedures and quality control
