Job Summary
Perform mechanical repairs including cutting, welding, and overall mechanical aptitude on railcars. Operate forklifts and assist with inspections and repairs as needed. Document work performed, record material usage, and ensure all paperwork for repairs is complete and correct. Maintain a clean and safe shop environment while ensuring employees work safely. Complete repair jobs in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Requires a background in welding and cutting, valid driver's license, and ability to lift up to 50lbs. - ability to use a 10lb sledge hammer requiring application of 75lbs of force
- ability to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner
- ability to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
- ability to work in indoor shop or outside environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles, and equipment
- ability to work in frequent exposure to weather elements
- willingness to wear appropriate PPE
- ability to pass pre-employment criminal background checks
- ability to pass substance abuse testing including a urine drug test
