Job Summary
Railcar Loader position in Nanticoke, Ontario, at SGS, focusing on safe loading/unloading of railcars. Responsibilities include conducting visual inspections for mechanical soundness, preparing railcars with loading arms or hoses, loading products per manifests and recording volumes/temperatures, securing railcars per TDG standards, maintaining checklists and manifests, collaborating with teammates on ground and elevated racks, and adhering to a safety-based program to achieve zero-loss goals. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, 0-1 years of relevant experience, ability to pass background checks and drug/alcohol testing, physical fitness for outdoor shifts, basic math for volumes, strong organizational/communication skills, willingness to work rotating shifts including nights, and comfort with heights. Prior petroleum refinery or industrial experience is a plus; valid driver’s license may be needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 0-1 years of relevant work experience or equivalent education
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing, driver's abstract, and criminal background checks
- Physical fitness to perform loading and unloading tasks and work outdoors for entire shifts
- Strong attention to detail for conducting inspections and maintaining accurate records
- Basic math skills for measuring and recording product volumes
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
- Commitment to following safety protocols and regulations
- Comfortable working at heights on railcar loading racks
- Previous experience in a petroleum refinery or similar industrial setting is a strong asset
- Valid driver's license may be required
