Job Summary
Oversee intermodal terminal operations by coordinating ramping and de-ramping of trailers and containers based on fluctuating business needs. Prioritize outbound trailer loads to meet train schedules and manage empty return programs while ensuring securement and accuracy on all units. Direct daily contact with customers to confirm requirements and maintain security within the yard confines. Assure personnel meet productivity goals and uphold high safety standards through conflict resolution and mediation. Determine manpower levels, assign duties, and maintain consistent communication with Assistant Terminal Managers to improve productivity and cost controls. Apply company policies and procedures to ensure cost-effective freight handling while satisfying customer service levels.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Drivers License
- Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from a vocational education institute, apprenticeship, on-the-job training, and/or similar supervisory work experience
- Ability to assist in conflict resolution and mediation between co-workers
- Proven managerial skills to include ability as a strong leader and positive motivator, successful with employee training, a good understanding of a Collective Bargaining Agreement, government regulations, and industry standards
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals
