Job Summary

Examine track lists to determine railcar spotting, loading, and shipping sequences, then proceed to designated tracks to separate cars and ensure proper space availability. Separate inbound railcars, spot cars for loading or discharge, and secure spotted railcars by setting brakes. Pull and separate loaded railcars for shipment from preloaded units, check outbound connections, and weigh all inbound and outbound loads while verifying DOT weight certifications are not exceeded. Complete any other assigned duties to maintain safe and efficient railcar switching and locomotive operations. Full-time rotating 12-hour shift work required. Valid TWIC and driver's license mandatory; OSHA safety standards must be followed.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills
  • Valid, unexpired TWIC
  • Driver's license
  • Ability to follow OSHA safety standards
  • Safety conscious mindset
  • Comfort working at heights
  • Comfort working near water
  • 18 years or older
  • Legal ability to work in the U.S.
  • Stable work history
  • Good references from past employers
  • Ability to pass a drug screen
  • Ability to pass a physical
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to speak
  • Ability to write
  • Ability to read
  • Ability to hear
  • Good vision
  • Ability to work outside in environmental conditions including extreme heat or extreme cold
  • Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction
  • Ability to pass any medical examination associated with the use of PPE
  • Ability to lift 30lbs
  • Previous military experience
  • Proven ability to follow procedures

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in railyard operations
  • Experience in chemical plant loading
