Rail Operator

Job Summary
Monitor and control rail operations, including equipment, personnel, and processes to meet production and sanitation schedules. Ensure equipment performs at optimal levels by performing teardown, cleaning, rebuilding, and startup tasks while maintaining safety and quality standards. Drive a railcar mover to assist with loading and unloading product, and perform track maintenance including debris and snow clearing. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, facilitate smooth shift transitions, and report unsafe conditions or hazards immediately. Provide backup support to all department positions as needed. This role requires certification to operate motor-driven machinery, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to lift up to 60lbs. Flexible hours, including weekends, are required.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of and ability to maintain certification to operate rail car mover and other motor driven machinery
- Ability to maintain a safe working environment
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency
- Strong mechanical aptitude and skills
- Speak clearly and effectively, write legibly and effectively
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from a wide variety of sources and take appropriate action
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, have a sense of urgency, and a demonstrated record of dependability
- Communicate effectively with all levels of employees as necessary, both in written and verbal form
- Must have regular and punctual attendance
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 60lbs
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends
- Position will work indoors and outdoors depending on shipping requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of rail experience or equivalent
