Job Summary

Inspect, maintain, and repair freight car equipment including trucks, underframes, structural components, braking systems, and draft systems to ensure safe and efficient operation. Perform preventative maintenance, handle urgent road service repairs, and execute precision work using welding, torch cutting, and power tools across all rail car areas. Complete required tests and supplementary operations while adhering to regulatory standards and safety guidelines. This role includes a specialized 4-week welding course and hands-on training. Candidates must be available for all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Minimum 1 year experience working on or around heavy equipment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions
  • Ability to pass the required written examinations
  • Ability to read and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations and other written or printed material in English
  • Dedication to safety
  • Ability to complete work within guidelines/rules
  • Strong communication skills
  • Medical and Drug Testing
  • Criminal history check
  • Education verification
  • Driver's license verification and driving history
