Rail Car Attendant - Night Shift

Job Summary

Receive and prepare inbound rail cars containing plastic resin for unloading by verifying grade, quantity, and documentation before pumping material into designated silos. Safely connect hoses and pumping equipment, monitor the transfer process to prevent cross-contamination or spills, and perform required inspections of rail cars, hoses, valves, and blowers. Accurately complete unloading logs, inventory records, and paperwork while coordinating with production, quality, and scheduling teams to ensure timely material availability. Maintain cleanliness of unloading areas, follow plant safety rules and lockout/tagout procedures, and respond promptly to alarms or equipment malfunctions. When not performing rail car duties, assist with staging, organizing, and preparing scrap and reprocessed material for shipment in accordance with plant procedures and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Ability to work in dusty environments and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, labels, and material documentation
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, bulk material handling, or chemical/resin unloading
