Job Summary
The Radiology Tech operates imaging equipment to produce radiographs per ARRT standards, assists radiologists/physicians in interventional procedures, applies knowledge of radiographic techniques and radiation safety, maintains patient care and documentation, coordinates with the healthcare team, and supports a professional, ethical clinical environment. Responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients, monitoring during procedures, ensuring safe exposure, adapting imaging methods with physician input, reporting equipment issues, and assisting in staff orientation and center procedures while adhering to center policies.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Basic BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) obtained before hire date or job transfer date.
- High School diploma or Equivalent
- Associate’s degree is highly preferred but not required.
- Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association-approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.
- Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with the Texas Medical Board or Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) with the Texas Department of State Health Services; registered technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists primary certification in Radiography - ARRT (R). If hired prior to 4/13/2012 and the technologist has been performing x-rays since 1987 and was grandfathered in by the State of Texas, only MRT or CMRT license is required.
