Job Summary
Prepare patients and operate x-ray equipment to obtain diagnostic images under physician direction. Perform warm-up and quality control procedures on equipment, adjust cameras for proper density and contrast, and critique images to determine if repeats are necessary. Maintain sterile fields, clean examination surfaces between patients, and provide clean linen. Follow OSHA regulations and universal precautions, including the use of HEPA masks for infection prevention. Prioritize workflow to ensure timely patient arrival and departure while explaining procedures to minimize anxiety. Work alone in diagnostic rooms, adapt to various procedures, and travel between campus buildings and remote facilities as needed. On-call responsibilities apply.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology program
- 2 years of experience in diagnostic radiology preferred
- ARRT or registry eligible
- Registry eligible technologist must successfully complete the ARRT certification exam in Radiology within 12 months of hire
- Applicable state licensure
- Thorough knowledge of radiographic equipment and accessories
- Analytical ability
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient(s) age
- Ability to interpret information to identify each patient's requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs
- Good communication skills
- Ability to function alone in diagnostic rooms
- Working knowledge of various types of x-ray equipment
- Ability to adapt to various situations and procedures
- Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly
- Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs
- Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to write legibly
- Must be available for on call responsibilities
- Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in diagnostic radiology preferred
