Job Summary

Operate and maintain imaging equipment to provide high-quality images for patient diagnosis, obtaining radiographs within an acceptable timeframe and accurately digitizing images with correct patient data. Prepare patients for procedures while following safety guidelines, using appropriate shielding to adhere to ALARA principles. Troubleshoot scanners to ensure smooth operation and avoid downtime, maintaining clean work areas and reporting safety hazards immediately. Track patients according to department procedures and correct errors in Radiology Information System reports. Ensure rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and assist in student training and ongoing in-service programs. This role requires a Registered Technologist through the ARRT, BLS certification, and the ability to handle a high-stress environment while providing patient comfort and education.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of patient transfers and positioning techniques
  • Exhibits ALARA principles when operating machine
  • Able to address patient concerns during the procedure and explain the process to them to provide comfort, ensure their safety, and guarantee they receive the best care possible
  • Capable of lifting moderate to heavy loads and standing for extensive periods
  • Ability to use tact, courtesy, and poise while dealing with anxious patients
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment to ensure it is running smoothly to avoid downtime
  • Ability to handle a high-stress environment in a calm manner
  • Ability to use independent judgment
  • Processes good communication skills
  • Must be a Registered Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Certification and/or Licensure: Any required certifications or licensures required
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card/BLS

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred
