Job Summary
Perform diagnostic imaging exams on patients using specialized equipment while ensuring proper patient identification, order verification, and adherence to radiation safety guidelines. Review images for quality, clarity, and accuracy, completing studies within acceptable time limits without compromising care. Maintain ARRT or modality-specific competency, assist students in exam protocols, and provide patient education and comfort. Operate equipment and information systems to ensure quality images, keep accurate records, and follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, and equipment failure reporting. Work full-time (40 hours) Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00 at Brighton Orthopedics.
Required Qualifications
- ARRT certification
- Radiologic technologist license in state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- ARRT or modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions
- Proper patient identification, order verification, and preparation for exam
- Exams performed per department protocol with reviews for quality, clarity, and accuracy
- Adherence to radiation safety guidelines
- Completion of studies within acceptable time limits
- Assistance and instruction of students and other Radiology Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment
- Appropriate patient education, comfort measures, and addressing of concerns
- Appropriate infection control and sterile techniques
- Understanding and operation of equipment and related information systems
- Accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and adverse reactions
- Adherence to protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures
- Ability to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Verbal communication and listening skills for patient care providers, patients, and visitors
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment
- Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Ability to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment including heavy items
- Ability to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining/distributing supplies
- Ability to navigate crowded and busy rooms
- Ability to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
