Job Summary
Performs radiographic procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures. Demonstrates thorough understanding of radiologic principles and theory, anatomy and pathology processes, utilizing appropriate technique and positioning for optimal examinations; adheres to department policies and protocols to optimize examinations; provides teaching opportunities to radiography students as required; communicates effectively with patients to obtain history and informed consent; explains procedures to ease anxiety and assure cooperation; recognizes and addresses potential issues to achieve optimal outcomes; ensures accurate patient/file identification; tracks patients per department procedures; maintains radiation exposure within ALARA limits and demonstrates radiation protection procedures; maintains patient safety through use of rails, brakes and monitoring; reports and corrects any adverse conditions; maintains clean and stocked work environment; operates imaging equipment per manufacturer specifications; stays updated on technological changes through seminars and in-services; participates in department/hospital performance improvement initiatives.
