Job Summary
Accurately record pertinent information when scheduling appointments, taking messages, and handling faxes while directing patients to the correct waiting areas. Complete all patient forms thoroughly, obtain necessary signatures, and verify prior authorization before scheduling advanced medical imaging exams. Facilitate communication with staff and radiologists, refer insurance and billing questions to the proper department, and coordinate record transfers. Navigate computer software to import CDs, modify demographics, scan documents into PACS, and activate outpatient orders. Troubleshoot issues, ensure PHI security, and participate in opening and closing responsibilities with a rotational Saturday schedule. Interact positively with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers while maintaining confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Basic computer skills including keyboarding
- Excellent organizational, verbal communication, and interpersonal relation skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to keep information private and confidential
- Ability to learn various prep information and exam compatibility
- Ability to handle problems independently and with sound judgement
- Ability to troubleshoot and/or problem-solve issues
- Ability to navigate and perform functions accurately and efficiently with the computer software applicable to the Medical Imaging Department and its modalities
- Ability to interact in a positive, responsible, and cooperative manner with patients, families, physicians, coworkers, managers, and director
