Radiology Resource Specialist II - HMC

Job Summary
Coordinate secretarial and imaging resource tasks to ensure efficient departmental operations and patient care continuity. Distribute work assignments among scheduled staff, verify patient registration, and manage electronic transfers of images to physicians, emergency rooms, and nursing units. Troubleshoot computerized systems for archiving and retrieving studies while maintaining PACS and imaging management systems proficiency. Transport patients of all ages throughout the hospital, maintain transport equipment, and perform departmental image maintenance. Assist the Imaging Resource Specialist I and lead electronic image transfers to external facilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- CPR Certification
- Two plus years of secretarial experience in a hospital or related setting
- Excellent knowledge and skills in Microsoft applications (MS Office Word, Excel, Power point, etc.)
- Excellent computer skills
- One (1) year of experience in a hospital or clinic Imaging Records Department
- Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development
- Assess data reflective of the patient's current status in relation to their age specific needs
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude under stress
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Develop proficiency of Imaging Management System, PACS, and DMCEZ CD burner with training
- Develop proficiency and working knowledge of electronic medical record systems and digital image sharing applications
- Understand, utilize and troubleshoot a network of computerized systems for processing information and for archiving and retrieving image studies
- Demonstrate proficiency of high speed typing of at least 60 WPM
- Must be proficient in computer office applications
- Knowledge of medical and departmental terminology
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding all documents and communications
- Ability to interpret and follow oral or documented procedures, instructions, laws, and policies
- Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization
- Moderate amount of sitting with stooping and bending
- An extensive amount of typing
- Adjust to performing routine, repetitive tasks under specific supervision
- Some walking for deliveries between departments and to use certain equipment
- Performing in a radiation area
Desired Qualifications
- Some college to an associate's degree
- Certified Nursing Assistant License preferred or equivalent on the job training
- One (1) year of experience in a supervisory/lead role
- Anatomy and medical terminology class
- Trained in or have the ability to be trained to operate in a PACS environment
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude under stress
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization
