Job Summary

Assist physicians with diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures under Radiologist direction, providing pre-procedural assessment, intra-procedural intervention, and post-procedural evaluation. Administer medications including oxygen, IV fluids, sedation, and contrast agents while monitoring vital signs and managing pediatric sedation. Maintain crash carts, emergency supplies, and medical equipment; triage patients as urgent, ASAP, or routine. Document observations and evaluations in medical records, serve as interdepartmental liaison, and conduct quality assurance and risk management programs. Provide patient and family education, act as patient advocate, and lead emergency response teams during medical emergencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience in interventional radiology or interventional cardiology or peri-anesthesia or cath lab or ICU or ED or moderate sedation experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Registered Nurse License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire
  • Registered Nurse License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire
  • Compact License: Registered Nurse within 6 months of hire
  • Registered Nurse License (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Full range of body motion to lift, walk and move patients
  • Complete bimanual dexterity
  • Eye-hand coordination and binocular vision corrected to 20/30
  • Able to tolerate 1 5-20 lb. lead apron during CT or MRI during monitored exposure to ionizing (X-ray) radiation
  • No pacemaker, insulin pump, or other MR sensitive medical device, or implanted metallic prosthetic device large enough to disrupt the static 1 .5 Tesla field
  • Must be able to push/pull wheeled chair conveyances, stretch and other equipment weighing up to 200 pounds
  • Must be able to transfer, walk, and position patients weighing up to 200 lbs or over 200 lbs with assistance
  • Must have effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds
  • Must be able to hear, speak, and see
  • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software

Desired Qualifications

  • Radiology nursing experience preferred
